On Tuesday 29 November we organised a very special Gala dinner that was attended by HRH The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO. The aim of the Gala dinner was to raise awareness of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award programme and to highlight the benefits and the significance of non-formal education in the development of society and young people in particular. The Gala dinner was attended by more than 130 local and international business representatives.
HRH, The Earl of Wessex was visiting Latvia as part of the 60th anniversary of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and the 10th anniversary in Latvia celebrations. The Gold Award Ceremony of the programme in Latvia also took place on Tuesday where His Royal Highnes was guest of honour.
It was an exciting evening at the beautiful premises of the Latvian National Museum of Art. The gathered guests had the chance to look around and enjoy the art and the company before HRH, The Earl of Wessex arrived. His Royal Highness met with the attendees and later gave an inspiring speech encouraging all to support and get involved with The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
We would like to thank the supporters who helped us to make the Gala Dinner the grand event that it was: Latvian National Museum of Art, Frescobaldi, Glenfiddich, Hendrick's Gin, Kaļķu Vārti, King's College in Latvia and Rigas Šampanieties.
