Joint Chamber Discussion “Future of Investment Opportunities and Tourism Development in Riga” organised together with Irish Latvian Chamber of Commerce was held on 18 May 2022.

Speakers of the event were Fredis Bikovs, Managing Director of the Investment and Tourism Agency of Riga; Valdis Vanadziņš, Member of the Board The Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Latvia and Viesturs Zeps, Chairman of the Board of Riga Freeport. The event was moderated by Dr. Ioseb Gabelaia, RISEBA University of Applied Sciences.

Fredis Bikovs outlined the main priorities for the The Investment and Tourism Agency of Riga which includes investment attraction, tourism marketing as well as work on Riga’s branding and global recognition. It was emphasised that talent attraction is the main challenge also for Riga’s development. He also outlined the main advantages for investors, including “Green Channel” and Real estate discount.

Valdis Vanadziņš spoke about the current challenges of the hospitality business restarting business post covid, including the drop of incoming number of tourists due to situation in Ukraine, increased energy prices as well as shortage of staff.

Viesturs Zeps gave presentation about Riga Freeport and the advantages for foreign business to chose Riga as investment destination.
