Joint Chamber Lunchtime Discussion with Mr Artūrs Toms Plešs, Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development was held on Thursday, 25 March. During the discussion, Minister shared with attendees the strategy plan for national digital transformation and what needs to be addressed for Latvia’s digital leap (e.g., ensuring connectivity in regions and need to build digital excellence to support development and uptake of advanced digital technologies).
The main action lines and implementation of the reforms for the Digital Transformation Strategy were presented, including legal framework and financial support. Touching upon Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), Minister presented the overview of the reforms – that would include the digital transformation of Public Administration and services, improvement of the efficiency and interoperability of the National ICT resources as well as development of the data on the economy.
After the presentation, attendees asked questions including plans for Latvia to attract large investments in datacentres, plans for digital skills education in the schools to build for the future and secure labour forces as well as Latvia’s plans to support medium and large enterprises in their digital transformation.
We would like to thank Mr Artūrs Toms Plešs for finding time to address our members on this important topic as well as Ms Evija Šturca, Partner at KPMG Latvia for moderating the discussion.
